We are excited to share that Kandes has been invited to participate in the 2025 Dezeen Awards, in one of the most exciting and future-focused categories: Surface Design.
Celebrating Innovation in Surface Materials
Presented by Dezeen, one of the world's most influential architecture and design publications, the Dezeen Awards are now considered a benchmark of excellence across the creative industries. With thousands of global entries from architects, designers, developers, and thought leaders, Dezeen's publication continues to set the tone for what’s next in design.
The Surface Design category celebrates materials that don’t just adorn. They inform the atmosphere, depth, and emotional tone of an experience. This category focusses on the surfaces, walls and floors, ceilings, and custom features that define environments, whilst innovating through materiality, responsibility, and sensory experience.
Our Entry: The SOAP Model
At Kandes, we are thrilled to be a part of the conversation with our submission: SOAP, a sculptural 3D wall model, made from reinforced gypsum.
Designed for architects and designers working on high-spec projects in hospitality, residential, and commercial interiors, SOAP creates visual softness and spatial rhythm in contemporary spaces. Its geometric pattern gives depth and shadow through dimensionality, modulating light; and creating a textural and architectural tactility that can be both functional and poetic.
Most importantly, SOAP is made from all-natural, A1 non-combustible gypsum, is free from harmful materials; so that it aligns with our value of eco-conscious interior design.
A Moment of Shared Vision
To be in the same conversation as some of the most advanced and forward-thinking materials that are shaping the future of interior architecture is both humbling and invigorating. The Dezeen Awards expression of how materials can be elevated into story through design is something we are proud to be a part of.
In leading up to the awards ceremony, it is important to remember what is most important: creating better 3D wall panels, that deliver perfect geometry, refined aesthetic, and choices for responsible modern spaces.
Stay tuned as we continue to share more from this journey.
